Harbor Seal, Icy Bay, Alaska

Description

The ice that calves from the glaciers is an important habitat, especially for harbor seals. Seals use the ice to haul out to give birth, rest, protect pups, and to molt. Icy Bay, Alaska contains three large glaciers two of which are the Goyot and the Yahtse. It is a part of the Wrangell-Saint Elias Wilderness. The area was once subject to a mega tsunami when part of a mountain collapsed.
